Russia bans GMO's!
Recent reports show the Russian Federation (this means, Vlad) has implemented a comprehensive ban on the cultivation, production, and distribution of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) within its borders.
This ban extends to all food products containing GMO ingredients and aims to safeguard the health of Russian citizens and the environment.
The Russian government has been actively promoting organic and natural farming practices as an alternative to GMOs, and has been encouraging the development of local food systems to ensure food security and self-sufficiency.
My (current) metabolic testing model suggests that ultra-processed foods have the most significant impact on metabolic health in Australia.
Although many Australians are aware of the potential negative impact of GMOs, the availability, promotion and affordability of such products often lead to their consumption. This highlights the need for greater education and awareness around the potential risks associated with GMOs and the importance of making informed choices regarding food consumption. It also underscores the need for policies and regulations prioritising the health and well-being of consumers and the environment over corporate profits.
So, it' a (solitary) tick to Vlad.

🎵 When your legs don't work
like they used to before 🎵
Returning to more committed running after a 6-year hiatus has been a bit challenging. As Ed Sheeran's song "Thinking Out Loud" goes, "When your legs don't work like they used to before," it has been difficult to get back into the swing of things. More so, excepting the stopwatch will likely never be the same.
I should clarify, my legs still work, but not at the speed (and recovery) from yesteryear!
It's understandable why studies reveal that most individuals stop engaging in physical activities they enjoyed in their younger years. As we age, our bodies undergo changes that can make it challenging to maintain the same level of physical performance.
It's true that aging can result in a natural reduction in physical abilities, such as running speed, bike power, hitting length, and jumping height. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that we have to give up on these activities altogether. While we may not be able to perform at the same level as we once did, we can still enjoy the same movements, albeit at a slower pace. As the saying goes, "Aging doesn't mean full speed: no speed."
I've drawn inspiration from the extraordinary Hiromu Inada, whom I had the privilege of meeting at the Hawaiian Ironman. This gruelling triathlon involves a 3.8km swim, a 180km bike ride, and a 42km run, all of which takes place in blistering 35-degree (C) heat in the lava fields.
Hiromu, who was 85 years old at that time, completed the same course as me in the exact same conditions on the same day, finishing 8 hours after me. Despite our different finishing times, we both received the same finisher's medal, which shows that age is just a number.
