WHEN TO CHANGE YOUR SCHEDULED SESSION
A smart athlete knows when to change (back off) their (structured) training plan.
Regardless of your planned session, if you’re ticking ANY the following 10 RED FLAGS, revert to this session;
Subtract 10 beats off your DTI and reduce the total time by 30%. And warm up for an additional 5 minutes.
1. You’re carrying a cold!
2. Your resting heart rate is elevated by ten or more beats per minute
3. You’re craving sugary food
4. You’ve slept poorly three nights in a row
5. You’ve failed your TT three weeks in a row.
6. You’ve been a cranky bugger
7. You’ve gained weight
8. Work or family stress has amplified
9. You’ve been travelling – particularly if changing time zones
10. You’ve eaten poorly, whatever reason, three of your last six meals
