Cool it!
It's been said that cooling from the outside in,
is more effective than cooling from the inside out!
According to tests, throwing cold water over your face (and head) can instantly lower your body temperature and create a perception of immediately reducing the body's temperature.
It's an instant sweat, starting the cooling process with evaporation.
On the other hand, cold drinking water takes around 4 minutes to make its way to sweating.
The colder the drinking water, the faster the absorption.
Of course, drinking during warmer conditions makes sense and is essential. But, absorption takes time.
Using face drenching (or simply patting your face with a wet, cold towel) and drinking (super cold) liquids is best.
Note - if you were born after 1980, you sadly won't know the cool dude!

Limes, not just for daiquiris!
Aussie summers bring bindies, cicadas, Ritchie (yes, I can still hear him), and boy smell!
Let's say you have a mate and know they're coming from a distance 🦨
Here's a delicate promoting angle.
Consider mentioning you've been trialling the magical powers of limes, a deodorising citrus fruit. Citric acid has antibacterial properties that can help kill the bacteria responsible for the unpleasant smell. Lime juice is acidic and creates an environment inhospitable to bacteria, thus reducing the odour they produce.
Here are some tips on how to use lime to prevent body odour:
Cut a fresh lime in half.
Squeeze the juice from one-half of the lime into a small bowl.
Dip a cotton ball or pad into the lime juice.
Apply the lime juice to your underarms, covering the entire area.
Leave the lime juice on your skin for 10-15 minutes.
Rinse your underarms with water and pat dry.
Repeat this process once a day, preferably after showering.
Oh, and limes are a whole heap cheaper than commercial deodorants.

The ChiliPad!
My sleeping preferences differ from my wife's, as I prefer cooler temperatures while sleeping.
In the summer, I'll often favour a sheetless sleep while she still enjoys using blankets. As a result, we rarely reach a compromise during the summer months. But then we found the Chilli pad.

For those training and racing in the heat, the Omius cooling headband could work for you. I trialled the headband with some success.
How it works!
When water or sweat evaporates on the skin's surface, it absorbs heat and cools the body.
The Omius technology amplifies the cooling effect by absorbing water into the porous graphite, which has 500% more surface area for evaporation.
As water evaporates from the surface of the graphite, it changes from a liquid to a gas, pulling heat away from the cooling pieces in contact with the skin and effectively cooling it down.
Since the cooling effect is solely driven by water evaporation, it will continue indefinitely as long as the cooling pieces remain wet and have airflow across them.
Would I continue using the headband? While I could feel a cooling difference, I'd only favour it again in extreme conditions.

Have you tried water running?
If you can access a waist-deep pool, consider pool running/walking sessions.
My favourite session is running laps in my local rock pool.
In year's past, I'd typically only resort to water running workouts when injured. However, nowadays, in the summer months, I love throwing in a brief session a week.
Not only is the session highly therapeutic for my aging legs, but it also controls my body temperature on warmer days.
For those with aging hips or vulnerable calves & achilles, please trial a 20-minute session.
What about the boredom?
Well, I guess it's no different to a treadmill session. Throw in some tunes, place your water bottle on the side of the pool, and get moving.
